Linux Kernel development primarily takes place on the LKML, which requires separate Continuous Integration (CI) infrastructure. In contrast, popular CI systems like GitHub Actions are widely available. To bridge this gap, the Kernel Patches Daemon (KPD) leverages GitHub Actions to run tests on LKML patches. KPD watches patchwork for new
patch series sent to the mailing list, and creates github pull requests that in turn can trigger CI workflows built on top of Github Actions. When the workflow runs report back, kpd updates the relevant checks for this series on Patchwork. Optionally, KPD can send email notifications to patch authors and the maintainers.
